Part 3: The Cebu Experience - Good Service at Sampaguita Suites

Having a friend who works in a travel agency is a blessing when you're fond of traveling. For one, you won't have to worry about the accommodation since he has everything covered.
Dani, a high school friend, made the hotel reservation (through AsiaTravel where he's employed) a few months before our scheduled trip to Cebu. After doing some thorough research, he thought we'd be better off at Sampaguita Suites. Why Sampaguita? He said it's located near the Magellan's Cross, a famous tourist attraction in the city. The rooms were a bit cheap as well. 2,600+ for two rooms, double occupancy, for two nights. Not bad at all. Add that to the fact that we're splitting the charges among the 6 of us, we'd only end up paying 600+ for the whole stay. Best bang for our buck..
For travelers who seek value for money, Sampaguita Suites can be a good option. The hotel boasts of strategic location too. Right in front is a supermarket, where we bought a few drinks and some provisions. There's also the Basilica del Santo Nino which is just a few steps from the hotel. A number of fastfood restaurants litters around the area - but really, you don't travel to Cebu to eat at Jollibee, Chowking, etc., no? We haven't found any good place to eat simply because my friends didn't want to tire themselves looking for one. I rallied against the idea of eating breakfast at Chowking but I was voted out. 5 against 1.

Stairs. But there's an elevator. |
The staff are friendly and courteous. Upon learning that we're two towels short, we got their attention (they're in the hallway doing some cleaning) and asked if we could have two extra towels. Without any question, they came back after a few minutes with two towels in hand. I know it's their job to attend to the clients' needs but I've had a few encounter in the past in which the crew wasn't a bit happy being asked for something.
